Introduction

The Lighthouse Guesthouse is situated in the coastal town of Whitley Bay, ideally situated for business or leisure.
Located 5 minutes from the sea/beach/newly renovated promenade/plaza. 5minutes to the town centre and also to commuter access for Newcastle upon Tyne
Whitley Bay is ideal for visiting all areas on the Northumbrian coastline with lovely walks to Cullercoats and Tynemouth coastal towns. The Lighthouse Guesthouse is within easy access to St Mary’s Lighthouse.

The Lighthouse Guesthouse is approximately 100 years old and has been recently refurbished, whilst we aim to meet the needs of all our guests there are some period features of the house which might make access difficult for people with limited mobility.

We offer 5 guest rooms, a twin/double with ensuite shower facilities, a family room with ensuite shower facilities, a small double with ensuite shower room, a single room with shower/handbasin and a separate WC, all these rooms are on the first floor

on the second floor we offer a double ensuite shower room

The dining room is situated on the ground floor

The nearest railway station is Whitley Bay which is a 5/10 minute walk, connecting to Newcastle-upon-Tyne

The nearest bus station is approx. 30m from the B&B
Newcastle airport is 30/45minutes away

Car Parking and Arrival

There are 3 car parking spaces to the front of the property on a concrete driveway leading to the front door
There is a small patio area to the front of the property for guests
There is on street car parking but a charge is required between the hours of 9-5pm

There is a step 6″ /150mm high to the front door with a 2″ /50mm step over plinth on the floor
The front door is 32″/815mm leading into vestibule area where there is an entry door 30″/770mm wide to entrance hall with a 1″/25mm step plinth into the entrance hall
Assistance can be given with luggage

Welcome Area

Guests are welcomed at the front door and shown into the dining room/bar area, which is level throughout, to register
Seating is available as this being the dining/bar room
The flooring is wood throughout ground floor
The area is well lit with overhead lighting and spotlights
Registration card and pen provided
Guests are shown to their bedroom and asked if they require assistance with their luggage

Bedrooms

Our guests bedrooms
Are accessed by means of stairs to first floor with 15 stairs (6″/150mm) there is a handrail to one side throughout
There is a bedroom with a small double bed and separate shower en-suite room ,with access doors of 31″/750mm wide on this level also the private WC for the single bedroom
A further 2 steps (6″/150mm) to the twin, family and single guest rooms
Access doors 29.5″/750mm to 31.5″/800mm to the guest rooms
16 stairs 6″/150mm to second floor to the double ensuite shower guest room on this floor
All beds made up with duvets
Bed heights vary from 23″ to 25″ inclusive of bedding
There is seating, bedside tables, bedside lights, clothes hanging rails, drawer units available in guest rooms
All guest rooms have flats screen TV with SKY/Smart facilities
All guest rooms are provided with complimentary tea/coffee and Toiletries
Bedroom 1has a 4ft bed with ensuite shower room
Bedroom 2 has 2 single beds which can be joined together to make a king size bed with access from both sides in any situation with ensuite shower room
Bedroom 3 has a double and a single bed with access from the double to both sides and one side only for the single bed with ensuite shower room
Bedroom 4 is a single bedroom with shower cubicle and handbasin facilities with WC outside on landing

Bathrooms, Shower-rooms & Toilets (Ensuite or Shared)

All guest rooms have en-suite shower rooms except room 4, the single bedroom has its own WC on the landing
All en-suite rooms include shower cubicle, toilet and wash hand basin
All showers have removable shower heads
Bedroom 1 with being on the lowest level to guest rooms has a curved shower cubicle for access, with 6″/150mm step up into
Standard toilet with height 15.5″/395mm
Wash hand basin at 30″/760mm

Public Areas – Halls, Stairs, Landings, Corridors

All public areas, hall, stairs, landings, are well lit with ceiling lights
There is short pile carpet on the stairs and landing areas
The hallway has wood flooring with a non slip runner mat
The house is fully central heated via radiators ,temperatures can be adjusted in each room via radiator valve to suit individual requirements
There are automatic audible smoke alarms in all guest rooms and public areas
There is a continuous flight of 15 stairs to first floor with landing then half turn to a further 2 stairs to main landing and then a further 12 continuing stairs to 2nd floor with half landing and a further 3 stairs to 2nd floor landing for access to room 5
A continuing hand rail to one side throughout

Dining Room

The dining room is situated on the ground floor with level entry from the front door
The dining room door is 31″/790mm wide and is level throughout
This room also has a small licenced bar with the bar counter area being utilized at breakfast to display cereals and fruit/yoghurt choices
Lighting is natural daylight from large picture window with ceiling light and spotlights in bar area
The floor is wood flooring
We are able to cater for varying dietary requirements, please advise at time of booking
We offer seating for 8 guests at a 4 seat table, and 2 tables with each seating 2
There is a 50″ SKY TV for guests use ,also a selection of cereals, a microwave is also available for guest use

Guests on arrival are briefed with evacuation procedures which are also displayed in guestrooms
In vestibule area we provide a wide selection of information, with local restaurants, attractions and pleased to advise guests on any individual requirements they have
We provide safe storage for cycles/equipment
Free broadband and Wi-Fi throughout with access code provided in all guest rooms
An information folder is available in the dining room
Please ask when making reservation if pets are allowed as this varies depending on guests circumstances
